Exactly one year ago I published my first blog post. I still can’t wrap my mind around that. But, as I am always one to celebrate and reflect upon the past, it’s been incredible to see God work in ways that I never would have expected with this blog.
I remember how nervous I initially was and how many fears were swirling around in my head. Is His New Creation user-friendly and easy to navigate? Does it look tacky? Will anyone like my post? Will anyone even read my post?
As soon as I hit the “Publish” button, I didn’t know what to expect. I wasn’t sure how frequently I would blog or what I would blog about. All I knew is that I felt God leading me to blog, and I had an incredible support group of friends and family who encouraged me to persevere.
Over the first couple months, the blog went through multiple design updates, received a new logo, and obtained an official domain name (I’m still pretty excited about that). I’m quite happy with how it’s turned out.
However, His New Creation presented a lot of challenges for me during this year. There were moments of writer’s block when I didn’t know how I would get my post published in time. Some blog posts contained a lot of vulnerability as I shared my struggles as a follower of Christ. Other blog posts contained messages that many wouldn’t consider to be “feel-good” or “popular,” as my goal is to speak honestly, but lovingly. Honestly, this blog saw some of the most-challenging moments of my life so far.
But, this blog has also seen some of the best moments of my life. I’ve grown in confidence not only in my writing, but also in speaking the truth about God. It’s exposed me to a wonderful community of fellow bloggers who use their gift of writing to serve others. Blogging has challenged me to dig deeper into reading God’s Word and learn more about Him. It’s created a reliance on God in new ways for me, and it’s been a true joy to watch how God would guide my steps when I didn’t know what to do.
This past year, I’ve enjoyed writing about faith, caring for ourselves, family, friendship, our role in politics, relationships, and our interactions with others — all with a Christian perspective. I’ve grown to love the goofy moments, but also the deep, serious matters that we’ve discussed.
As I mentioned in my last blog post, I’m not sure what the future of His New Creation looks like. But knowing that God has guided me this far, He will continue to guide my steps when it comes to blogging.
Thank you to everyone for your support and encouragement this past year. I pray that it has served as encouragement to all who read it, and that it may continue to do so.
Above all, I pray that you will ultimately know the sacrificial, unconditional love that God has for you (Ephesians 2:1-10).
Happy Birthday, His New Creation! Here’s to another year.
