Nonprofits

One thing I’m passionate about are nonprofit organizations. I believe they truly can do amazing things to help people, and it’s a wonderful way to get involved in helping others. Listed below are some of my favorite nonprofits that you can become involved with:

Children

Compassion International: a child sponsorship program for impoverished children across the world. Your sponsorship allows a child to receive an education, food, water, shelter, clothing, regular medical examinations, access to their local Compassion program center, and the opportunity to learn about developing a relationship with Jesus Christ in a safe environment. You can correspond with your child — receiving letters, drawings, and photos of them!

Make-A-Wish America: when children are diagnosed with life-threatening conditions, Make-A-Wish steps in to ensure that children receive joy despite their circumstances. They provide children with the opportunity to have their dreams come true — whether it’s becoming a princess for a day, going on a family vacation to Disney World, or finding ways to help other children going through their same circumstances.

Family

Focus on the Family: a nonprofit dedicated to helping families thrive in a society that no longer places value in the traditional Christian family unit. Resources on Sanctity of Human Life, dating, marriage, family, children, and so many other topics are available for free on this website!

Global Impact

International Justice Mission: dedicated to rescuing children and adults from human trafficking across the world. IJM partners with local governments to help put an end to trafficking, but to also represent trafficking victims in four steps: rescuing victims, restoring survivors into their community, restraining criminals involved in these activities, and representing victims in the legal system so that their voice is heard.

Samaritan’s Purse: focusing on providing relief internationally to disaster victims, those affected by warfare, disease, and poverty — all while sharing the love of Christ. Many of you may be familiar with their annual Operation Christmas Child shoebox program. This allows international children in poverty to receive Christmas gifts, consisting of both necessities and fun toys.

Mercy House Global: the goal of this nonprofit is to empower women through fair trade product development by teaching them skills to sustain themselves and their families. Not only this, but they encourage these women to grow in their faith in God. You can support the work of these woman by purchasing their handmade products through the organization’s website.
